As Claude adoption has grown, so has the number of agencies and consultancies describing themselves as Claude specialists. Anthropic's Claude Partner Network exists partly to give buyers a clearer signal in that crowded field — but it's worth understanding what the designation does and doesn't tell you.
What a partner designation typically verifies
Partner programs at model providers generally verify things like: demonstrated delivery experience with the platform, technical proficiency with the provider's tools and APIs, and adherence to the provider's usage policies. It's a useful floor — evidence that a vendor isn't brand new to the ecosystem.
What it doesn't verify
A partner badge doesn't tell you whether a vendor understands your specific industry's compliance requirements, whether their engineering team can actually architect a production-grade agentic system, or whether their delivery process fits how your organization works. Those are the things that actually determine whether a project succeeds.
Questions worth asking any vendor, partner status aside
- Can they show a live, in-production system they built — not a demo — and explain how it's monitored?
- Do they understand tool-use and MCP architecture well enough to design permissioning and guardrails, or only prompt engineering?
- Have they worked with your industry's regulatory environment before?
- What does their post-launch support and iteration process actually look like?

Whether or not a vendor carries an official partner badge, the diligence questions above are the ones that actually predict project success. Badges are a useful signal among several; they're not a substitute for evaluating the team you'll actually work with.
